Brazilian Butt Lift Procedure (BBL)

The Brazilian Butt Lift is a popular cosmetic procedure designed to enhance the shape and contour of the buttocks. It involves a combination of liposuction and fat transfer techniques to achieve a fuller and more shapely posterior. During the procedure, excess fat is first removed from specific areas of the body, such as the abdomen, thighs, or hips, through liposuction. The collected fat is then purified and injected strategically into the buttocks to create a more rounded and lifted appearance. This technique not only adds volume to the buttocks but also improves overall body proportions, giving patients a more curvaceous and sculpted figure. The Brazilian Butt Lift is known for its natural-looking results, as it utilizes the patient’s own fat rather than implants or synthetic materials. It is important to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon to determine if you are a suitable candidate and to discuss the expected outcomes and potential risks of the procedure.

BBL Procedure Details

Brazilian Butt Lifts are highly effective and serve two purposes:

Removes unwanted fat from abdomen, hips, waist, inner thigh and/or lower back

Injects fat into buttocks to shape and increase size

Liposuction removes fat from undesired locations that will help enhance the curvature of fat injections in the buttocks such as, lower back and hips. The fat is removed with a specialized cannula, and is then processed before reintroducing it back into the buttocks. This eliminates any other fluid within the removed fat tissue so that only fat cells are grafted. Small areas can typically be done under local anesthesia, however larger areas are best done under intravenous sedation or general anesthesia. Because the fat used originates 100% from the patient’s own tissue, complications are diminished with received injections. The processed fat is then carefully injected into the buttock to create the desired contour and size.

BBL Recovery

Recovery time varies patient to patient, but 4+ weeks should be allotted for a full recovery in which the patient should refrain from extraneous exercise. The patient should also refrain from sitting for the first 2 weeks of recovery as well. It is important to walk a minimal amount every day, post-op, in order to keep blood circulation through the buttocks in order to prevent blood clots. Patients usually can return to work in approximately 2-4 weeks.

BBL Faq

  • Am I a candidate for a Brazilian Butt Lift?

Yes, if the following applies:  • Realistic Expectations for Procedure  • In Good Medical Health  • Excess Fat in Abdomen, Hips, Waist, and Lower Back  • Can Commit to Recovery Time

  • What is the difference between Brazilian Butt Lift and Butt Implants?

The preferred technique for buttocks augmentation is the Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) over Butt Implants for several reasons. Because BBL’s are a fat transfer technique, there are no foreign objects left behind in the patient and the risk for rejection, allergic reaction, infection, scarring, implant displacement, and/or sagging, is drastically reduced if not completely non-existent. Butt Implants are also limited in their ability to deliver curvier results. Since butt implants only add volume, they cannot offer the fat sculpting results that a BBL can deliver with the use of liposuction. The liposuction of the hips, lower back, and abdomen simply further enhance the results for a more satisfying contour. In addition, BBL offer a smoother, more natural result than butt implants can.

  • What are the effects of gaining and losing weight before and after Brazilian Butt Lift surgery?

Before the surgery, it can be beneficial in certain cases to gain a few pounds so that the surgeon can have more fat to transfer and sculpt from. But this is not recommended without first consulting Dr. Malek, and usually only reserved for patients who do not have enough fat to pull from. Losing and gaining weight (fat) after surgery should be generally avoided, and can be difficult to predict the outcome of such. It is always recommended to maintain current body weight through healthy lifestyle habits.

  • How much does a Brazilian Butt Lift cost?
